Live insects aren’t required for a finding to appear on the report.
The standard written report uses the NPMA-33 form, approved for FHA loans and accepted by lenders and closing attorneys across Vermont. The NPMA-33 documents what was observed, where, and the visible extent of any damage or conducive conditions. Reports are generally valid for 90 days from the inspection date.
FHA and HUD loans commonly require a WDI report as part of verifying that the property meets minimum property standards. For VA loans in Vermont, Chittenden County is not in the mandatory WDI inspection zone; a VA-triggered inspection occurs only when the appraiser notes evidence of infestation. The Three Wood-Destroying Insects Burlington Homebuyers Should Know
