Centipede & Millipede Control in Burlington

Over 20 Years Solving Burlington, VT Pest Problems

Centipedes and millipedes thrive in Vermont’s damp climate, and Burlington’s older homes with unfinished basements and crawl spaces give both pests ideal conditions to settle in. The Eliminator Pest & Property Service has served Burlington and Chittenden County since 2005, giving us over 20 years of hands-on experience with the pest pressure this region produces. Our certified, background-checked technicians use an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach, a calculated, holistic method that identifies what’s driving the problem before treatment begins. We apply treatments with products and methods selected for use around pets and kids.

We serve residential homeowners and commercial properties alike, including healthcare facilities, food service operations, schools, and property managers. Same-day and emergency services are available for Burlington clients who need a faster response.

If centipedes or millipedes are showing up in your basement, bathroom, or crawl space, call us today at (802) 423-3029. We can inspect your property inside and out and put together a plan that addresses the root cause, not just the pests you can see.

Why Burlington Homeowners Choose The Eliminator Pest & Property Service

We’re locally owned and operated, which means our reputation in Burlington depends on the service we deliver here. Every service starts with a thorough inside and outside property assessment. We don’t apply a fixed protocol and move on. We look at the specific conditions on your property: moisture levels, vegetation, entry points, and harborage areas. Then we build a treatment plan around what we find.

A centipede or millipede problem is often a symptom of excess moisture, decaying organic material near the foundation, or gaps that make it easy for pests to move in. Identifying those contributing factors is what separates a longer-term solution from a temporary fix. We hold a 5.0 Google rating, and our clients consistently note the thoroughness of our inspections.

Why Centipedes & Millipedes Are Common in Burlington Homes

Both pests depend on moisture to survive, and Chittenden County homes give them plenty of it. Unfinished basements, crawl spaces, bathrooms, and garages with poor drainage or aging weatherproofing are prime habitats. In autumn, millipedes migrate indoors in large numbers from outdoor breeding sites in leaf litter, mulch beds, and soil near foundations as temperatures drop. Centipedes follow a different trigger: they’re predatory, and they move inside wherever they can find insects to feed on, including spiders, ants, and silverfish.

Frequent indoor sightings are usually a sign of a substantial outdoor population near your foundation. Millipedes don’t bite or transmit disease, though their defensive secretions can cause mild skin irritation. Centipedes can bite and inject venom, producing a reaction similar to a bee sting in some people. Neither pest belongs inside your home.

How We Treat Centipede & Millipede Problems in Burlington

Every service starts with a full inspection, inside and outside, to locate entry points, harborage areas, and moisture conditions contributing to activity. Treatment typically combines an exterior perimeter barrier around the foundation with interior applications targeting unfinished basements, crawl spaces, and other areas where these pests hide and move. We also identify habitat factors such as moisture sources, excessive mulch, or debris near the structure and recommend modifications that reduce the conditions drawing pests in. Crack and gap sealing around doors, windows, and the foundation is a standard part of the IPM process for these pests.

We apply treatments with products and methods selected for use around pets and kids, and for Burlington clients who can’t wait, same-day service is available.

Year-Round Coverage with the Nothin’ Buggin’ You Program

A single treatment can knock down current activity, but Burlington’s climate means centipede and millipede pressure returns seasonally. The Nothin’ Buggin’ You (NBU) program is designed for homeowners who want ongoing protection rather than a cycle of reactive calls. Centipedes and millipedes are explicitly listed as covered pests under the NBU program.

    What the NBU Program Includes

The NBU program provides bi-monthly service, six visits per year spaced approximately every 60 days, custom-designed to your property using the same IPM approach as our individual treatments. It covers up to 25 of the most common household pests under a single agreement.

The NBU warranty: if covered pests return between scheduled visits while your program is active, we retreat at no additional charge. The program runs on a minimum one-year self-renewing agreement. Note that the NBU program does not cover bed bugs, cluster flies, termites, carpenter ants, carpenter bees, or wildlife.
